What is the DM Gauntlet

The DM's Gauntlet is a grueling secondary competition that takes place during the Iron Player Championship.  We take seven unknown DUngeon Masters and pit them against one another to test their merit against award winning Iron Dungeon Masters.  Dungeon Master's brave enough to take on the gauntlet must DUngeon Master 3 seperate groups in 3 seperate ways.

1. They will have to make up a mini adventure given several adventure hooks.

2. They will have to add their own style and flair and DM a group through a deadly Prepared min-module

3. They will have to compete head to head alongside an Iron DUngeon Master in an epic boss battle.

Is this like Iron Dungeon Master?

As we are all previous winners and competitors in the Iron DM Tournament, we have designed the DM's Gauntlet to test a different set of skills as the Iron Dungeon Master Event.  We'd like to think of the Gauntlet as a good warm up for the Iron Dungeon Master event. The Iron Dungeon Master Tournament is still the grand daddy of them all when it comes to Dungeon Master tournaments.   With the Gauntlet, you are Dungeon Mastering 3 different styles of game, but you receive a tad bit of help in the form of adventure hooks and prepared material.

With the Iron Dungeon Master Tournament, you are DMing one style but with no assistance.  It's a different type of difficulty as you create the entire 6 hour adventure on the fly trying to creatively use the three words provided.

The Iron DM The awesomness that is the Iron Dungeon Master Tournament, along with the Iron Player Champsionship and the DM's Guantlet is apart of a three day Iron Bonanaza.

How is the Tournament Judged

The DM's Gauntlet is judged by several secret players at the tables you Dungeon Master as well as several judges who will play random NPCs traveling along with the party.

Players are given a random partial adventure module and a DM fiat adventure hook.  They are then asked to pick one of the Iron DM All-stars who they will compete against.  The DMs then have 1 hour to design a 2-hour adventure based around the dm fiat hook and familizarize htemselves with the seperate 2 hour adventure module.

Atthat point, the guantlet begins, they will run three parties in three- two hour blocks.  One using their own prepared DM fiat adventure, the second being the prepared module and the third being a secret epic boss battle where they will compete head to head with the Iron DM All-Star of their choice.

The DM with the highest score among all of the gauntlet players will receive a prize.  However, if that gauntlet player receives a higher score than the DM they challenged they receive a better prize.  If that DM has a higher score than every other DM in the tournament, they receive the DM's Bounty, one of the largest prizes we have ever given in a tournament.
