We worked on the scoresheet last week and are pretty satisfied with the final result. Scoring has really been an evolution for the tournament. The goal is to find a strong balance of puzzle/riddles, combat and role playing so that a player or party needs to be good at all to win it. We've discarded the 1-5 rating for player scores and went with a simple sports like ranked phase. For each catagory, the top 3 players in a catagory on each team is ranked 1 to 3. There are a total of 9 catagories with each dm rating 3 a piece. Each rank has a point value and the player with the highest value wins. Each team is rated on a seperate scale based on the objectives acheived and how well they played as a team. This score is marginally factored into the player score as well. The goal of this system is to move closer to making specific objectives a thing of the past and rewarding players and teams for meeting broader goals. |
